A New Connection
March 24
Read Isaiah 42:14-17
Pray: Almighty God be present. Show up. Be near. Amen.
Hear:
We are living in a time of a worldwide pandemic.
Let that sink in.
Worldwide. Pandemic.
I have been purposefully not letting my brain go there, and I think I need to let it happen. There is a relly good chance that this is all going to blow over. That we are in the eye of the hurricane. There is also a chance that this will be something we will deal with for a while.
Have you stopped reading yet?
I want you to read our passage today because I think all of us need to believe in a rescue. Sure we are afraid of getting sick, losing our jobs, or greater restrictions being put in our lives. But I want us to understand that within and throughout all of this fear, there is a rescue within all of it. I don’t mean that if we pray real hard we can make COVID-19 disappear. Instead, I really do believe that in this season of forced silence, forced slowing down, forced winding down—we have a chance to see God. We have a chance to disconnect from the noise we have put up in our lives that we call our identity and reconnect with what actually matters.
That being said, we are allowed to mourn. We are allowed to be afraid. Let us feel all of those feelings, and let us keep our eyes peeled for the new connection we might find.
Respond:
What will my rescue look like?
Meditation:
Deliverance.
