daily readings for a more holy life

What would it look like if our daily life became a more holy life?

There was a pastor named John Wesley who came up in the late 18th century. He was raised in a faith focused on rote adherence to tradition and ensuring that the Christian faith never messed with our day to day lives.

This changed when he encountered Jesus in a meaningful way. From that moment on, he decided to preach a life of hope and holiness in any way that he could. He would preach in fields, outside of mines, and he would preach against social ills like inhumane prisons and slavery.

In that decision he said that he “submitted to be more vile,” by getting into the world and reaching the previously unreachable. This site is my desire to be more vile— wholly vile, for the sake of the world.

Daily readings for the journey

Guided by the lectionary, I try to apply what scripture is showing to a life modeled after prayer, action and meditation. I try to be funny and hope I am relatable. Each day gives a chance for us to start new.

Sermons

Occasionally, I preach. When I do, I post the manuscripts here. They will say things like, “good morning,” and “will the ushers come forward.” They will also say things that I think may help you in the wild thing we call life.
