February 4

Read Psalm 61

Pray: Almighty God, remind me that when the worst comes towards me it is coming towards us. Remind me that I am not alone in my fights and struggles and that I am loved by a God who suffers with me. Amen.

Hear:

I think everyone who lives is stuck in a time where they feel as if their suffering isn’t heard by anyone. This kind of suffering can be so detrimental because not only are we hurting but we are faced with the most human of fears—loneliness.

Some people see God as far away and indifferent. Some see God as a puppet master, allowing and doing horrible things to us so that we can grow.

A third way sees God as one who suffers along with us. Sobbing with us and knowing how we feel. This freedom from loneliness doesn’t make suffering good, but it makes us heard.

What questions are left from this week you want to talk about in class?

Meditation:

I have a friend who is closer than a sister.
