Read John 6:35-40

Pray: Almighty God, may we seek contentedness and the freedom that comes with that satisfaction. Help us to see where we are satisfied and help us to see where we need to ask for more.

Hear:

If I never fed my kid ever again, she would be so happy. There is nothing my kid hates more in this world than eating. If she didn’t look like me, I would wonder if she was adopted.

This is of course apart from a very particular brand of drinkable yogurt. That is always a yes. She would eat the same yogurt 30 times a day if her parents didn’t step in.

This is the image I see in this passage. A Heavenly Parent wants nothing more than to feed us and sometimes we just don’t want to eat. We want to eat the drinkable yogurt of the praise of others or financial wealth, etc. We want the empty nutrition of being lauded by others and ignore the free adoration of a God who loves us. Christ steps in and frees us from a lifetime of drinkable yogurt.

Respond:

What is your drinkable yogurt? Where are you missing out on the bread?

Meditation:

I do not need to hunger.
