Alarm Clocks

March 26

Read Psalm 130

Pray: Almighty God of early mornings- help me to see myself as you see me today. Help me to watch for you as if I am watching for the morning. Amen.

Hear:

The other day our kiddo slept in until 7:30 and there was so much rejoicing from my spouse and me. We thought, “wow, we must have been really active yesterday- we wore her out!” But as I got her ready, I looked at the microwave clock, the coffee maker and the oven— all reading, “6:30.”

We hadn’t worn her out— we had sprung forward. Man, do I hate Daylight Savings’ Time.

Our Psalmist today says that they wait on the Lord more than the watchmen wait for the morning. I watch for the morning in this season of my life— I watch for it in the way in which I watch for traffic when I cross the street! With the morning comes a shedding of lethargy and laziness. There comes with the morning new opportunities and perspectives. The morning brings new work to do and new adventures to partake in.

May we today greet Christ in our lives with new adventures and new perspectives. May we watch for Christ in our lives as we wait for the morning, ready to be swept up in the adventure.

Respond:

Where will this day take us?

Meditation:

Watch for Christ.
