The Transfiguration

Read Mark 9: 2-13

Pray: Almighty Jesus, come to me today and help me to see the Heavenly in all of the Earthly. Amen.

Hear:

Time for a weird one! There are strange stories in the Bible and I think we miss out if we act as if all the stories within our lifeline to God are completely normal. Our Jesus was a unique and powerful connection to the Divine. We should act like it.

And so in the spirit of strangeness, I want you to listen to a wonderfully strange song by Sufjan Stevens. You can find it here.

In this story and in this song there is a myriad of layers of prophecy and history being unfolded in front of us. What I want you to carry around with you today is a sense of awe and wonder. What would it have felt like to have been on that mountainside and to have seen the transformation of a friend and teacher into a pillar of light? How would you be transformed?

May we spend the day seeking out the Heavenly and the Divine in the everyday, allowing us to be transformed.
