Not Buying It

March 16

Read Psalms 81

Pray: Almighty God, help me to “buy it,” and rely on your provision. Help me to see where you have already given me good things, and help me to see the new ways you are still giving. Amen.

Hear:

I read these Psalms with crazy empathy sometimes. I read them and I hear the promises of God that always end with “but Israel doesn’t listen and everything stinks for them.”

And I’m like, “yeah, I get it.” Sometimes I have a hard time believing that God is taking care of me. Just a few days ago we found that we had pests that I won’t define here. Suffice it to say these pests will cost MONEY and we already had plans for our tax return. But still, God is providing for us? God is looking our for us?? Why aren’t those pests at someone else’s house then?

And yet… I know that I am being taken care of. Maybe not financially, but I know the grace I have been given is a grace that will sustain my life. The way I have to choose to see it is that I am being given grace enough to make it through the pests… through corona…. and through every point in between. So yes, things might look bleak, but let us remember that we are being cared for in ways we may not readily see. Let us remember that we are being cared for.

Respond:

What is a way that you are being cared for that may not be readily seen?

Meditation:

In God’s caring love.
